Dear LACPA Colleagues,

The Business of Practice SIG (yes, we’re new) is pleased to announce that Dr. Anthony Zamudio, current LACPA Ethics Chair, will be presenting at our July 18th meeting.

Title:  Navigating Ethical Vulnerabilities in the Practice of Independent Psychotherapy

Summary:  The presentation will examine the ethical vulnerabilities and potential blunders that psychologists may encounter while practicing independently in the field of psychotherapy.  Key topics will include Benke’s Bin Analysis, Standards of Care, Boundaries of Competence, Fees and Financial Arrangements, and Non-sexual Multiple Relationships.  Through the use of hypothetical case material, attendees will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the ethical considerations and the complexities of independent practice.

Bio: Anthony Zamudio, Ph.D., has over 35 years at California Hospital Medical Center teaching residents, medical students, and psychology graduate students the psychological, cultural, and ethical aspects of patient care.   He has multiple teaching awards and journal publications on patient encounters in primary care. He chairs the LACPA Ethics Committee and is a former member of the California Psychological Association Ethics Committee. He has a clinical practice in Glendale where he specializes in working with individuals and couples, Latino, Gay, and Lesbian issues.
