Hey everyone,
Cross country season is upon us! That means crisp morning runs, the smell of freshly cut grass, and—of course—the occasional uphill climb that makes us question all of our life choices. Luckily, not everything this fall requires so much cardio. The Sport and Performance Psychology Special Interest Group (SIG) invites you to pace yourself with us at the finish line of knowledge. We’re thrilled to host a guest presentation by Dr. Eric Anderson, titled: “Gay Athletes: LGBT athletes, what the data says.” Professor Eric Anderson came out of the closet in 1993 as America’s first openly gay high school coach. After completing his PhD in 2004 on gay men in sport, he has gone on to lead the field in studying LGBT athletes with both qualitative and quantitative data. In this presentation, he will walk us through the trajectory of the field and highlight findings from the largest study of out LGBT athletes ever conducted.
