Dear LACPA Members, On behalf of the LACPA Community Outreach Committee, I am pleased to share an exciting opportunity for meaningful service next month. We are partnering with the nonprofit Healing, Hope & Love (HHL) to support their long-standing Food For Friends program, now in its ninth year of providing students with hands-on community engagement while serving residents of the Skid Row community. This year, HHL will be collaborating with students from Magnolia Science Academy–3, and we warmly invite LACPA members to take part in this impactful event.
Ways You Can Participate: LACPA members are welcome to join in any of the following: 1. Donate Items Donations must be delivered directly to the Magnolia Science Academy–3 campus. 2. Assist with Gift Bag Assembly Management Support students and volunteers during on-campus assembly of meal and gift bags. 3. Participate in Skid Row Distribution Help distribute completed bags to Skid Row residents.
Event Details: Date: Saturday, December 13, 2025 Time: 8:00 AM (set-up begins) Location: Magnolia Science Academy–3 1206 E Dimondale Dr. Carson, CA 90746 Schedule: • 8:00 AM – Volunteers arrive for set-up • 9:00 AM – Students and parents begin assembly of meal/gift bags • After assembly – Group will travel by bus to Skid Row for distribution • Upon completion – Bus returns to the school; volunteers are free to leave
Suggested Donation Items: If you would like to contribute, please consider donating: • Fun-size/snack-size candy • Individually wrapped candy • Individually wrapped crackers, granola bars • Individually wrapped sweet treats • Pudding cups, fruit cups • Mini water bottles Important Note About Transportation: Space on the bus to Skid Row is limited. Priority will be given to students, parents, and school staff. LACPA volunteers may need to follow the bus in their own vehicle if seats are no longer available.
