Hello everyone, Running a marathon sounds like a great way to spend four hours asking yourself, "Why did I sign up for this?" Fortunately, attending our next Sport & Performance Psychology SIG meeting is much less painful. Please join us on Saturday, July 18, at 12:00 PM (PT) via Google Meet for a presentation by Adam Boardman, LMFT: Exhausted, Panicking, and Dripping in Sweat: Getting Out of Our Office to Serve Our Community and Our Practice Adam will discuss his experience serving as the Director of the Medical Marathon Psychology Program at the Los Angeles Marathon. He'll share what it's like providing psychological support to runners on race day, the unique challenges that arise when athletes hit their physical and mental limits, and how getting out of the office and into the community can help us grow as clinicians. Whether you've worked with endurance athletes, volunteered at races, or have simply wondered what happens when someone's race plan collides with reality around Mile 20, this presentation will offer practical insights and plenty of memorable stories. Unlike a marathon, this meeting doesn't require months of training, carbo-loading, Body Glide, or explaining to your friends why paying to run 26.2 miles seemed like a good idea. Just bring your curiosity and join us for what should be a great discussion. Please RSVP to:
We hope to see you there! Best, Jason
