Open Our Hearts Through Art!

Portraits of Human Souls and Their Life Stories

For 40 years, Stuart Perlman has been a psychologist/psychoanalyst in private practice in West LA. Also a portrait painter, he illuminates the faces of people living and dying on the streets, along with their humanity and pain. Stuart has painted 250 people in Venice Beach, West LA and Skid Row. He collects their stories, histories, art and music. Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine describes these paintings as part of “Great Art Worldwide”. The project has been featured in the Los Angeles Times and other media. Stuart has had many exhibitions. The National Association for Advancement of Psychoanalysis nominated his paintings for “Best Art” and his documentary Struggle in Paradise, based on the lives of these homeless people, won “Best Movie.” Stuart was LACPA’s “2016 Distinguished Social Justice Award” winner and been honored by the LA County Board of Supervisors for his work. http://www.stuartperlmanartist.com/
