LACPA’s Child and Adolescent SIG welcomes Dr. Ashley Taylor, a pediatric clinical psychologist.
 
Dr. Taylor’s presentation,  is based on her work as a trauma-informed pediatric psychologist and two books she has co-authored for educators: The “Why” Behind Classroom Behaviors and Creating Sensory Smart Classrooms.

Presenter: Ashley Taylor, Psy.D.
 
Dr. Ashley Taylor is a licensed clinical pediatric psychologist, author, founder, and owner of a pediatric practice Pasadena, Wonder Tree Developmental Psychology. She is endorsed in California as an infant-family and early childhood mental health specialist and has been supporting children, families, and educators for over 15 years. She specializes in providing comprehensive pediatric evaluations assessing for developmental delays, autism, trauma, ADHD, and learning disabilities. She strives to take a trauma-informed, relational, and brain-based regulation lens, focusing on the strengths and resiliencies that support us when we are vulnerable. Dr. Taylor was the clinical director of the Pasadena Chapter of A Home Within helping to support trauma-informed clinicians and the foster care population for many years. She has conducted parent, clinician, and educator training and workshops on provider burnout, complex trauma, interpersonal neurobiology, and the impacts of trauma on brain development. She has co-authored two books helping to provide trauma-informed teaching practices and information on neurodiversity to educators.

Dr. Taylor will discuss the work she does and how she conducts trauma-informed evaluations; when to refer; how to take a multidisciplinary approach when treating and evaluating for complex trauma, and how Covid-19 is impacting evaluations and treatment of the pediatric population. Why trauma is often downplayed or discounted, how to advocate for those in need, and how to prevent burnout for yourself~
