Elaine Miller-Karas, LCSW, is a trauma therapist, author, lecturer, consultant, radio show host, and social entrepreneur. She is the co-founder and the Director of Innovation of the Trauma Resource Institute and a founding member of the International Transformational Resilience Coalition. She is the author of Building Resiliency to Trauma, the Trauma and Community Resiliency Models® (2015). She has been the key developer of the Trauma and Community Resiliency Models. The models have been introduced to over 75 countries. She has presented at the Skoll World Forum, Trauma Action Network, Resiliency 2020 and 2021, ISTSS, Psychotherapy Networker, and the United Nations. Elaine’s book was selected by the United Nations and Taylor and Francis’ curated online library as one of the innovations helping meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. She is a Senior Consultant to Emory University’s SEE Learning program, inspired, and launched by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and she is consulting with the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Foundation to help create a virtual curriculum of the US Civil Rights Movement. Her radio talk show Resiliency Within, Building Resiliency during Unprecedented Times is on VoiceAmerica.

Michael Sapp, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist and the CEO of the Trauma Resource Institute (TRI). As a Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)® and Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® Senior Trainer, Dr. Sapp has helped train clinicians and non-clinician community leaders both locally and internationally. Domestically, he has provided trainings throughout California, as well as Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York, and North Carolina. Internationally, he has helped provide trainings in the Philippines, Turkey, London, Nepal, Germany, Iceland, and Northern Ireland. Dr. Sapp co-authored a chapter with Dr. Geoff Goodman entitled, “Maternal Depression, Preschool Children’s Representations of Attachment Disorganization, and the Development of Aggression and Depression: A Mediational Model” in C. Yoon (Ed.) Focus on Family Relations in the 21stCentury published in 2007. He also co-authored a chapter with Elaine Miller-Karas entitled, “The Nervous System, Memory, and Trauma” in Ms. Miller-Karas’ book Building Resilience to Trauma: The Trauma and Community Resiliency Models published in 2015.
