LACPA Membership Committee Chair & Board Member

I joined the Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA) over six years ago. I am a board-certified educational therapist, and I was seeking a strong, clinical organization to be a member of that would represent my interest in the areas of psychology, education, and mental health. I was especially drawn to LACPA because of the many opportunities to connect with psychologists and affiliated clinicians and practitioners.

Upon joining, I quickly took advantage of the opportunity to submit an article to the Los Angeles Psychologist, the LACPA award-winning quarterly magazine. It was gratifying to have my article published in the following issue. I am now one of the co-editors of Los Angeles Psychologist. I also joined the LACPA Child and Adolescent Special Interest Group, which I am now the co-facilitator of.

I have participated in many LACPA events, including networking events, social events, and social causes. All of these events were well organized and enormously fulfilling. In time, my interests drew me into other areas of LACPA. I have been a presenter at LACPA continuing education events, and at several of LACPA’s Annual Conventions. I recently joined the LACPA Board of Directors as chair of the membership committee. I find all these roles rewarding and highly enjoyable.

LACPA is a growing organization and seeks all clinicians, practitioners, and educators with an interest in mental health and human development. Not only do psychologists find an outstanding home at LACPA, but many other practitioners will too. LACPA welcomes MFTs, LCSWs, professional counselors, educational psychologists, educators, and other practitioners including medical doctors and attorneys. The only requirement is that individuals hold a master's level degree or higher. With the exception, of course, of students! We welcome all students to be members of our organization. This is an outstanding opportunity for students to connect with a strong and all-embracing community.
