Topics include: addressing what addiction is and demystifying why it occurs, setting appropriate boundaries, and how to encourage your client to care for themselves despite their family member’s ongoing struggles. Jacqueline Nolan, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist and co-founder of Clarity Medical Group, an outpatient, telehealth private practice focused on treating addiction. Dr. Nolan incorporates object relations, EMDR, motivational interviewing, and family systems to customize treatment to the needs of the client, including clients who prefer a harm reduction or non-12 step approach.
Sirisat Khalsa, M.D., is a board-certified addictionologist and co-founded of Clarity Medical Group, an outpatient, telehealth private practice focused on treating addiction. Dr. Khalsa practices integrative care, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (including Suboxone, Naltrexone, and detox assistance), nutritional/hormonal imbalances, and traditional physical wellness.
Attendees will be able to:

Boundary Setting - What Are Boundaries/Examples- 10 minutes - Boundary Setting by Role within the Family System- 5 minutes - Mistakes Made in Boundary Setting- 5 minutes - How to Support your Client Even if They/Other Family Members are Doing this Wrong- 5 minutes 6. Countertransference Given Your Own Experience with Addiction- 5 minutes 7. Time for Q&A- 15 minutes
Please note that the Lunch & Learns are being offered as a LACPA Membership Benefit. Virtual attendance is limited to 100 LACPA members. Should you have a friend or colleague who would like to attend, please have them join LACPA before they send in this registration form. Programs are subject to change. The Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. LACPA maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This course may be taken to satisfy the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) continuing education requirements.
