Joseph Bobrow is a psychoanalyst, and the founding Zen teacher of Deep Streams Zen Institute in Los Angeles. He is the author of Zen and Psychotherapy: Partners in Liberation, Waking Up from War, After Midnight (poems), and A True Person of No-Rank: Awakening Buddha's Dream to Save the World." Joseph practices psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in Studio City and teaches widely.

Abstract:
Many psychotherapists are incorporating mindfulness into their clinical work. An increasing number are becoming interested in the contributions that psychoanalytically-informed perspectives can make in deepening their work. This workshop offers the unique opportunity to explore this interplay both theoretically and through discussion of in-depth clinical case material. 

Note: The case presenters are Bhanu Harrison, LCSW, SEP and Nicholas Monzon, Psy.D.

Learning Objectives: 

At the end of this workshop, the learner will be able to: 

1. Describe three relevant aspects of psychoanalytically-informed psychotherapy. 

2. Compare how psychoanalytically-informed perspectives can enrich and complement mindfulness-based clinical approaches. 

3. Make use of and integrate psychoanalytically informed and mindfulness-based clinical approaches in their practice.
