Speaker: Bart Lerner 

Title - Mental Skills Training Within a Private Practice Setting

 
Dr. Lerner is currently the Academic Dean at West Coast University, in which he oversees the General Education curriculum.  Dr. Lerner holds a doctoral degree in Sport Behavior from West Virginia University, and two master’s degrees – one in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, and a second in Counseling from West Virginia University.  He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of California at San Diego.  He is an AASP Certified Consultant, in which his areas of interest include youth sport education, performance enhancement training (e.g., goal setting, imagery, performance anxiety), self-confidence, psychological aspects of injury and rehabilitation, substance abuse issues, supervision and training, and graduate training in sport psychology.  Dr. Lerner has experience working with youth, high school, college, and professional athletes in the field of sport psychology. 

 

Dr. Lerner has taught courses in the exercise sciences (i.e., exercise physiology, motor learning and development, and psychology aspects of injury), and statistics as well as counseling-related courses (i.e., counseling skills, life-span development, and substance abuse).  He is the co-author of the book Training Professionals in the Practice of Sport Psychology.

 

 

Parking information: We are not permitted to park in the building parking lot*. It is restricted to tenants only.  There are a couple of options for parking. You can park at the Sepulveda Basin Sports Complex (6201 Balboa Blvd.) on the west side of Balboa Blvd, just south of Victory Blvd or you can park on the street just south of the entrance for the sports complex parking lot. Both sides of Balboa have all-day free parking. Allow a 3 - 5-minute walk to the buildings. Once you arrive at the Encino Office Park, walk into the building’s parking area and go to the second building. The LACPA office is right by the entrance of the parking lot, on the left if you walk in from the parking area.

 

*If you have a Disabled placard or license plate, you may park in the designated spaces in the building parking lot.
