He graduated from USC Medical School and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at the combined Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and UCLA/VA Greater LA Residency Training Program. He then completed subspecialty postgraduate training in Addiction Medicine. Dr. Diamond’s approach to medicine carefully blends a strong evidence-based perspective to ensure high-quality care coupled with an individualized and compassionate bedside manner to deliver a comprehensive and personalized healthcare experience.
Course Outline: Part 1: Doomscrolling, Dopamine, & Depression: Understanding Social Media and Internet Addiction Disorder
Course Goals and Educational Objectives: Attendees will be able to: 1. Demonstrate the criteria of Internet Addiction Disorder and relate the neurobiological stages of addiction to a behavioral process addictions such as compulsive internet/social media use. 2. Explain the differences between tame and wicked problems and identify contemporary research exploring causal associations between social networks and radicalization 3. Explain the causal associations between the rise of social media use and the incidence of worsening mental illness, especially among teenage girls. 4. Analyze research demonstrating the inverse correlation of ‘meta-awareness’ or mindfulness attention awareness with rates of anxiety and depression. The Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. LACPA maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
This program may be taken to satisfy the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) continuing education requirements.
