Los Angeles County Psychological Association’s Mirrors of the Mind 10: The Psychotherapist PROSPECTUS
ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPATION: Open to all LACPA members as well as all non-member psychologists, psychotherapists, psychoanalysts, clinical and research psychology professors/instructors, and psychotherapy graduate students, both nationally and internationally. VIRTUAL ART EXHIBITION SELECTION CRITERIA: Artistic value, psychological significance, and originality SUBMISSIONS: Mirrors of the Mind welcomes ONE SUBMISSION ONLY of an image within any visual art medium: painting, drawing, photography, textiles, jewelry, sculpture, ceramics, woodwork, furniture, and other 3-D pieces. All work submitted must be original and include an Artist Statement as specified in the Artist Statement form and an Artist Photo (optional). SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Monday, October 1, 2021 ART IMAGE SPECIFICATIONS: Please choose one piece of art to submit as a JPEG file; the higher the resolution, the better, accompanied by an Artist Statement (see details on the Artist Statement Form). Your art must be original, psychologically themed and/or psychosocially meaningful. PROCEDURE: Complete the Artist Statement Form (separate link). Email the Artist Statement and accompanying JPEG images of your art and artist photo as separate attachments to: [email protected] ENTRY FEE: There is a nonrefundable fee of $25 for LACPA members and non-member students, and $35 for non-LACPA members. Please see separate Entry Fee link online. Exceptions will be made in cases of financial hardship. ENTRY AGREEMENT: By submitting an art image to this virtual exhibition, the artist hereby agrees to abide by all the rules and stipulations set forth in this Prospectus. The artist acknowledges that submitted art is an original work and that the artist owns the rights to this work and grants permission to LACPA for it to be used without compensation or other consideration. The artist agrees that their art will be displayed on LACPA’s Mirrors of the Mind website and may be to advertise membership events. The art will remain on the main display of the website until November 2022, when it will be moved to a past exhibitions tab. PHOTOGRAPHY PERMISSION: Submitted photographs which feature identifiable individuals require their written permission for use of their image, which the artist certifies they have on record. This permission is a protection for both you as the artist and LACPA, as well as being an acknowledgement of the rights of the individual in the photograph. LIABILITY WAIVER: As with any website, the artist understands that copies of the submitted art may be made without their permission and releases LACPA, its vendors and volunteers for any liability for such unauthorized copying of their art. ORGANIZERS Terry Marks-Tarlow, Ph.D., Co-Chair, LACPA Arts, Creativity and Culture Committee, is a clinical psychologist and author of numerous papers and books on creativity, play, clinical intuition, and nonlinear dynamics. She illustrates her books, dances, does yoga, and wrote librettos for two operas that opened at Lincoln Center in New York City. She is Core Faculty at the Insight Center, Adjunct Faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute and California Institute for Integrative Studies, and she is Visiting Professor at Italian Università Niccolò Cusano (London). Pamela McCrory, Ph.D., Co-Chair, LACPA Arts, Creativity and Culture Committee, is a clinical psychologist who has an interest in creativity and the integration of psychology and the arts. She is co-editor of the APA Psychotherapy and the Arts Newsletter, has served on the Executive Committee of the Society for the Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity and the Arts, and co-chaired the 2014 APA Community Arts Project.
