President’s Lab Series
In addition to being a licensed psychologist, I hold a board certification in holistic nutrition and one of my goals for the year was to provide education and training on nutritional psychology to colleagues and the community. The idea birthed a president’s lab series titled “The Gut-Feeling Link.” It is a three-part series that has tackled (1) nutrition and anxiety, (2) nutrition and depression, and the final module (3) nutrition and trauma will take place on Friday, October 2nd at 12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m. The modules contain enough science for professionals to chew on while also offering a plethora of tangible tools for community members to get excited about. I encourage you to attend and I hope that you will bring someone with you. The registration information can be found under Programs at LACPA.org.
Gratitude and Sanguinity
As I look back on my years in LACPA, I am filled with much gratitude. As a student, there were so many leaders who took the time to offer me mentorship. There were so many who bothered to listen as I spoke about what I was doing at the time and the things that I hoped to one day do. There were so many who exercised patience, so many who gave of their time, so many who welcomed a phone call, and so many who provided consultation and wisdom. I did not arrive at this place on my own; I am here because of each of you. The phrase “thank you” feels too small, and yet it is the only phrase available in my lexicon. With all sincerity, I hope that I am able to uplift a future leader the way that each of you have uplifted me.    LACPA Family, I see you; I admire you; and I appreciate you!
